I was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica and raised by my late grandmother, Mama, with the support of my mom and my amazing aunts, especially Aunt Cinth, who continues to be one of my greatest inspirations. Mama was pure magic, a powerful force of unconditional love and kindness. Everything I know about loving kindness came from her. She was a shining example of generosity, compassion, and empathy.
She was my favorite human of all time. In her presence, especially on her verandah, I discovered true bliss. My heart was shattered into a million pieces when we lost her on October 21, 2019.
My grief was as big as the love I carried for her. It took immense resilience, along with the love and support of family, friends, and colleagues, to begin healing and moving forward. Not long after my heart started to mend from losing Mama, my mom suffered a stroke, and we lost her too on January 25, 2021. This loss doubled the pain and grief, and once again my heart broke.
I gave myself time to grieve and nurtured my heart back to joy and peace. With consistent self care and the loving support of those around me, I was able to move forward. The pain still resurfaces from time to time, and I allow myself to feel it, but I choose not to dwell in it. Instead, I lean on my 4 M’s: Motivation, Mindfulness, Movement, and Memories to ground myself and continue moving forward in a positive way.
I am deeply grateful for the gift of resilience, strength, and the unwavering support of family and friends. I now choose to be the creator of my own energy. Despite the obstacles life has thrown my way, I live a humble and fulfilling life with my husband and our three beautiful children, who I love with all my heart. I find joy in music, dancing, writing, reading, singing, cooking, learning new cultures, and inspiring others through lived experiences and meaningful connections.
I also have a meaningful career in HR, which I love because it allows me to create positive experiences in the lives of others. Still, I felt called to do more. To honor Mama and carry on her legacy of service, I became a Wellness Coach. My goal is to spread positive energy, nurture humanity, and help others live with greater love, balance, and fulfillment.
Mama’s verandah was my first school of love and kindness. It was there that I learned the power of faith, self awareness, honesty, intuition, and above all, love. I am beyond excited to share this gift of light and support others on their journey toward joy, resilience, and wellbeing.
Forever grateful for your love, Mama. Your spirit continues to brighten mine.
